You're in great hands

The purpose of the first visit is to establish a positive relationship with your child and evaluate their dental health. By bringing your child to our office at an early age, they will become comfortable visiting regularly. The ideal time for the first visit to our office is around the time your child gets his first tooth, or by the first birthday. Our highly trained team and fun environment ensure your child's first visit is as comfortable and enjoyable as possible.

If your child is old enough, tell them about the upcoming visit, and how Dr. Rachel and her team will explain all procedures and answer any questions. Try to keep things light and simple. The initial visit includes X-rays, cleaning, fluoride treatment and examination.

We promise to avoid words around your child that might cause unnecessary fear, such as needle, shot, drill or hurt. Dr. Rachel and her team use age-appropriate words that convey the same message but are pleasant and non-frightening. Words like "tooth tickler" and "thirsty straw" help your child understand and feel more comfortable.

We encourage you to accompany your child throughout the visit, to see what we see inside their mouth, and to help them through the appointment. During future appointments, we suggest you allow our staff to accompany your child through the dental experience. We can usually establish a closer connection with your child when you're nearby, but not present. Our goal is to put your child at ease and gain their confidence. Yet if you think it's best, you're more than welcome to accompany your child to the treatment room. For the safety and privacy of all patients, other children who are not being treated should remain in the reception room with a supervising adult.
